Going to switch gears this week into heavy duty surgery to repair pelvic organ prolapse. This video is placement of a Transobturator Sling for Stress Urinary Incontinence and placement of VNew Dermal Allograft for uterine prolapse and a moderate to severe cystocele. This piece of dermis is unique in that it is a pre cut shape I designed over a decade ago for a polypropylene mesh kit I designed way back in 2002-2003 and got a patent on in 2007. When polypropylene pre cut mesh kits were removed from the market I turned to dermis for these complete repairs. In over 3,000 cases that covers over 30 years I have had a failure rate of less than 5% for dermal augmented anterior compartment repairs and less than 1% for augmented posterior compartment repairs. When I was using polypropylene my failures were less than 1% covering thousands of cases also. The technique is the same for dermis or ultralightweight polypropylene. This is how I suspend the apex and the uterus. I presented this video at the 2022 ISCG meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Enjoy.

Today I spent time in the OR with a special guest from Yokohama, Japan. It was a pleasure to train and become friends with Yurika Fukuda, M.D., a renown plastic surgeon working at Shonan Beauty Clinic. I was able to do a one-on-one private preceptorship which I hope to continue in Japan in the near future.
